Sabra Aaron joined JCA in 2019 and works on implementation projects with Blackbaud CRM, BBIS, and thankQ CRM. She also work with clients on system selection projects and assessments around business processes and practices.

Sabra brings a broad background in nonprofit technology from her experience in a variety of roles in fundraising and advancement services. She has worked in project management, business process improvement, CRM implementations, web strategy, and front-line fundraising. As a Senior Enterprise Solutions Consultant with Blackbaud, Sabra worked with higher education clients like UCSD, TCU, and Rockefeller University, doing BBCRM implementations. She worked in the Development and Alumni Services division at Johns Hopkins University, training hundreds of Hopkins fundraisers to use the university’s systems to fundraise at the highest level through two major campaigns, and also built the school’s first online giving system, alumni library services portal, and email solicitation program. Her track record of working with fundraisers, technical staff, financial and accounting officers, and advancement services teams to document existing processes, uncover issues, and deliver better workflows is informed by her fundraising experience in grants, major gift fundraising, annual giving, and most recently, public radio corporate support.

Sabra holds a B.Mus. in music history from the College of Wooster, and also studied library science at the University of Maryland College Park.

Where are you from and where do you work?

I am based in Wooster, Ohio, situated just about half way between Cleveland and Columbus. I grew up in a very small town in western New York state, and I’ve spent significant time in Baltimore and Albuquerque, too.

What do you do at JCA?

As a consultant, I’ve had the opportunity to work on implementation projects with Blackbaud CRM and BBIS, and with thankQ implementations as well. I also work with clients on system selection projects and assessments around business processes and practices.

What is your background? What brought you to JCA?

I’ve spent most of my career working with or for nonprofits, predominantly higher education institutions. From writing proposals for government and private grants, to donor solicitation, to running annual giving programs, I have done my share of fundraising—but my time has been split between that front-line work and working behind the scenes in advancement services. I have been a tester and trainer, built online giving and alumni library systems, and worked on at least half a dozen major database implementation projects. All that experience is put to good use with the variety of projects I get to work on with JCA.

What do you do outside of JCA?

When I’m not working, I spend my time taking care of my family, which includes one soccer-playing daughter who is still in high school and one grown daughter who is a pre-school teacher. My family also includes various cats and a dog, all of whom take turns as guest stars on web meetings with clients and colleagues. I enjoy watching Formula 1 racing, and trying new hobbies—the current rotation includes golfing, getting back into playing the flute, knitting, and sewing. I also volunteer with my local NAACP unit, and I’m involved in a phase one COVID vaccine trial.
