Brittany Ivey joined JCA as a Consultant in 2020 and works on a variety of projects, including CRM software implementations, systems analysis, and business process documentation. She has experience working with several donor database systems, including a professional-level certifications in Salesforce and Blackbaud’s Raiser’s Edge.

Prior to consulting, Brittany worked with not-for-profit entities for over six years, including roles in daily operations, fundraising, finance, grants administration, and database management. Her experience with organizations of various sizes spans from small grassroots organizations, to independent K-12 schools, to state government departments. Brittany has also taught several seminars about donor data and CRM systems at her local nonprofit resource center.

Brittany received a Bachelor’s degree in Accounting and Information Management from the University of Tennessee. In her free time, she enjoys travelling, calligraphy, running, and yoga.

Where do you work? Where are you from?

I live and work in Knoxville, Tennessee. Though I’ve lived in Knoxville the longest and consider it home, I was born near Seattle and lived in several other states growing up: Washington, Idaho, Massachusetts, Tennessee, Washington (again), Utah, then settled in Tennessee (again).

What do you do at JCA?

As a JCA consultant, my primary focus is working with clients to implement and optimize their processes and technology solutions for fundraising and engagement. I am passionate about finding the “sweet spot” where an organization is fully utilizing their data and information to enable their people to achieve the organization’s mission.

What is your background? What brought you to JCA?

My background is primarily in various not-for-profit work. I began at Random Acts of Flowers, a small grassroots organization that started locally in Knoxville and grew nationwide. Life then took me to Nashville, where I worked for the State of Tennessee in grants administration for the Department of Economic and Community Development. Upon moving back to Knoxville, I worked as a database administrator for a large independent K-12 school. Along the way, my passion for nonprofit technology and database solutions grew! I became involved with the local nonprofit resource center, Alliance for Better Nonprofits, and taught several seminars about donor data management and database systems. After a brief detour to consult on healthcare communications technology, I came to JCA to use my analytical and technical skills to help nonprofits implement and optimize their fundraising systems and data management.

What do you do outside of JCA?

Outside of JCA, I enjoy spending time with my husband, our two dogs, and our cat. I also do hand-lettering/calligraphy, creating signage, invitations, and custom artwork for weddings and other events in Knoxville. It is my creative outlet and has allowed me to meet many talented people. To stay active, I enjoy running, yoga, and barre.

Share one of your favorite stories of or with a JCA client:

Some of my favorite client interactions have come from needs assessments and system selections. When a client feels like someone sees & hears their story and is advocating on their behalf to resolve issues and/or select a new system to fit their needs, it is a powerful force.
