Vice President of Product

Summary

The Vice President of Product is a member of JCA’s Leadership Team and is accountable for driving JCA’s financial growth through technology and innovation. As the Vice President, you direct JCA’s product strategy, with a focus on driving the growth of Vivian, our flagship product, while positioning it alongside future solutions to meet evolving client needs and maintain a competitive edge. You are integral to identifying and implementing advancements that strengthen our offerings, expand our product portfolio, and build business opportunities. You lead efforts to enhance Vivian’s capabilities, reinforcing JCA’s reputation as ingenious, trusted nonprofit technology partners. 

Responsibilities

Leadership, Management, and Accountability 

  • Promote a culture in which our core values drive every decision we make and every action we take.
  • Work with all leadership team members to set long-term aspirational goals for the company. Using the company’s Vision/Traction Organizer (VTO) as guides, forge a path that fosters excellence, profitability and growth while performing unparalleled, leading-edge work with high performing clients.
  • Work with all leadership team members to develop and maintain a strategic plan to advance the company’s mission and objectives on the path to its envisioned future. Devise and implement programs and initiatives to support the strategic plan. Maximize the return on all available resources.
  • Lead, manage, and hold accountable the Product team, managing their performance and ensuring their professional and skills development.

Research, Strategy, & Product Delivery

  • Define and communicate the product vision and strategy, ensuring alignment with market needs and business goals.
  • Identify customer needs and emerging trends, driving the discovery and integration of new technologies to ensure innovative, competitive products.
  • Lead the development and delivery of new products, collaborating with the leadership team to unlock growth potential and enhance revenue streams.
  • Monitor industry trends and customer feedback, adapting products to stay ahead of the market and fulfill evolving client needs.
  • Present and educate the company on plans, developments, and updates surrounding products.

Product Management & Resource Oversight

  • Develop and maintain the product backlog and roadmap, prioritizing features based on client feedback, market trends, and business objectives.
  • Manage resources efficiently, leading sprint planning, daily stand-ups, and retrospectives to ensure optimal product development timelines. 
  • Oversee product quality assurance to ensure reliability and performance, integrating security features and tracking product performance metrics. 
  • Lead and manage the Product team, ensuring the effective execution of product initiatives.

Release Planning & Coordination

  • Clearly define and communicate release features, improvements, and fixes. 
  • Establish and manage release timelines, coordinating with cross-functional teams to ensure alignment and readiness.
  • Ensure a smooth handoff to the customer success team for post-release support, addressing issues promptly and continuously monitoring product performance.

Client Satisfaction of Products

  • Oversee the support team to ensure timely resolution of client issues, proactively addressing bugs, feature requests, and implementing solutions.
  • Provide guidance to clients on best practices for maximizing the value of JCA products and aligning them with client goals.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with key accounts, monitoring satisfaction levels and exploring opportunities for additional products or services. 
  • Act as a client advocate, using feedback to influence product development and drive continuous improvements that foster client loyalty.

Support Process Optimization

  • Oversee JCA’s product support processes, focusing on scalability, usability, and performance across all product lines to ensure an exceptional client experience and maintain JCA’s reputation for excellence.
  • Continuously evaluate and optimize support workflows, implementing tools, methodologies, and best practices that enhance team productivity and service quality.
  • Monitor support metrics and client feedback to identify areas for improvement, drive innovation in support processes, and ensure timely resolution of client issues.
  • Foster a culture of continuous improvement within the support team, empowering them to proactively address challenges, implement solutions, and deliver consistent value to clients.

You are successful as the Vice President of Product because you: 

  • are a strong, experienced strategic leader who can develop a highly effective team;  
  • have an excellent understanding of software product management, development, and customer success; 
  • are an excellent communicator and negotiator, effectively collaborating with team members, partners, and customers to understand challenges and identify solutions;   
  • clearly articulate product vision, roadmaps, and user needs across various teams; 
  • interpret user data and market research to inform product decisions; 
  • understand and apply Agile frameworks for efficient product iteration; 
  • have the ability to analyze complex situations, manage competing priorities, and make data-driven decisions to optimize features and functionality; 
  • have a solid grasp of product domain, technologies involved, and the ability to read and write technical specifications; 
  • understand the unique business and system needs of the nonprofit sector; 
  • are exceptionally organized; and 
  • are an excellent presenter. 

Qualifications

You are qualified for the position because you: 

  • have a minimum of two years’ experience in an executive leadership role; and 
  • have a minimum of three years’ experience in product management, with a proven track record of driving product innovation, strategy, and growth. 

You have an advantage in the position if you: 

  • have experience in executive leadership at a philanthropic-focused organization; 
  • have experience managing product development for nonprofit-focused solutions;  
  • have experience working in the Tessitura CRM; and 
  • have one or more certifications in agile project management, product management, or product ownership, such as Agile Certified Product Manager (ACPM), Agile Certified Product Owner (ACPO), Disciplined Agile Scrum Master (DASM), PMI Agile Certified Practitioner (PMI-ACP), or Certified Scrum Product Owner (CSPO). 

Requirements

You may be required to: 

  • work remotely from a home office or other remote space; 
  • work at least 40 hours per week, as this is a full-time position; 
  • travel domestically and/or internationally as needed; and/or 
  • remain in a stationary position for the majority of an eight-hour workday.

  • Salary range of $108,150 to $146,000, commensurate with experience and performance
