MORE ABOUT FIONA

Where do you work? Where are you from?

I live in Sooke, British Columbia. I lived in Toronto for many years. I grew up in Guelph (a city west of Toronto) and lived the majority of my life in southern Ontario. For the first few years of my life we lived in Melita, a town in the south western corner of Manitoba. When my Dad took a 6-month sabbatical from work when I was in high-school we lived in Vancouver.

What do you do at JCA?

I am a Project Manager and work with JCA and client teams to plan and ultimately ensure that projects successfully meet their objectives that include scope, schedule, budget, and quality. In my role as Manager of Professional Services, I also oversee a number of JCA consultants and help manage team members. I helped to develop the JCA project management methodology, templates and ongoing support content.

What do you do outside of JCA?

I love being outdoors hiking, biking, and kayaking. My partner and I have a small trailer and we enjoy camping. I enjoy making breakfasts on weekends.

What is your background? What brought you to JCA?

I worked for the Toronto Symphony Orchestra (TSO) in various roles including Customer Service, Marketing, and Database Operations. When TSO decided to implement a new enterprise system, Tessitura, I was asked to be the Project Manager. I loved it and decided I wanted to be in a role where I managed projects full-time. While I worked at TSO, JCA was involved in TSO’s system selection process and data conversion. I was impressed with their work which led me to my role here at JCA. Along my path to my current role I completed a Project Management certificate from University of Toronto and attained the PMP certification.

What is one of your favorite stories of/with a JCA client?

I love facilitating the planning process for projects to help ensure that team members are prepared and understand what they need to work towards. It’s definitely satisfying to lead teams who have a shared understanding of what they need to achieve coming together to then achieve the desired results.
